Dear Chinese Colleagues,
Over 95% of people with disability in rural and developing regions of the world receive no rehabilitation. It is up to us as the most highly trained experts in rehabilitation to lead the change. Many of you work directly in these areas. Others volunteer in foreign lands. Still others-especially trainees-want to help, but do not know why.
Proudly I am able to announce the First World Conference on Medical Rehabilitation in Rural and Developing Regions, June 9-12, in Kaiseri, Turkey. This conference, just before the ISPRM World Congress in Istanbul, is co-sponsored by the ISPRM, the International Rehabilitation Forum, and Erciyes University.
In order for this meeting to succeed, I need your help. Please identify professionals in your hospital, at your university, and in your country who share this passion. Tell them about the meeting. Encourage them to attend and to present their experiences. Help find the funding to support travel for colleagues who cannot attend.
With the great support of Erciyes University we’ve been able to make the meeting, hotels, and included meals extremely affordable. Still, this will be a top-notch meeting and the sense of adventure is unmistakable: The surrounding Cappadocia region is one of the great historical and natural wonders of the world. Remember we’ve structured the IRF as a 501-c-3 tax exempt organization. Donations to IRF to support attendees may be tax-deductible.
Pass on the website: Questions can be directed to irfoffice@ . Please do your part for international rehabilitation while supporting the passions, growth, and diversity of your colleagues, faculty and staff. Send them to Turkey!!!
Thank you for supporting our work together!
